I thought I’d take you back a couple years with KC and the Sunshine Band. Founded in 1973 in Miami, Florida, their style includes everything from disco to funk. Most people tend to enjoy their music. Their most well known songs include the hits “That’s the Way I Like It”, “I’m Your Boogie Man”, “Get Down Tonight”. Lead vocalist is Harry Wayne Casey. The band gets its name from Harry’s last name (“KC”) and sunshine from KC’s home state of Florida (Sunshine State).
This song is not what the “crowd” is into by any means. The reason for this video is simple. This song played on the radio the other day and immediately a movie popped into my head. Any Guesses? The movie was Superbad, of course. The song plays in one of my favorite scenes in Superbad. Fogel (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is seen here dancing with the girl of his daydreams. Needless to say it’s a good feeling. I realize that it might be just me, but I have a point. What we associate songs with is entirely up to us.
In my eyes, Superbad was and will always be a classic. I was a young and in high school when i first saw the movie, but somehow I knew it was better than it got credit for. I associate this movie with this song because LOOK AT THE PICTURE! McLovin is having the time of his life and he’s doing it to this song!
Music is what you make it. The best songs are the ones that are associated with positive feelings. That’s why I enjoy this song so much.
