I’m looking everywhere for inspiration for AKPsi’s next shirt. I think this is a good place to start… ROWDYHEADS were founded by Carlos Vazquez and Nick Terry, both former members of Alpha Kappa Psi at UTSA. I am very proud of that fact and as Vice President of Marketing I plan on taking advantage of this product and incorporating it into our brand.
Xi Omicron held elections last week and the next executive board has been chosen! It’s been one hell of a journey up till now and it seems like Alpha Kappa Psi is in good hands for the next year. I was elected as the chapter’s next Vice President of Marketing and I could not be happier. I joined this fraternity as a marketing major and I’ve had my eyes on this position for a long time. To win this position, knowing that a brotherhood of over 50 people supports me, is very fulfilling. I just can’t wait to get started.
I’ve been in Alpha Kappa Psi for a year now and this will be my first leadership position in the fraternity. That doesn’t mean I haven’t stepped up in other ways. I found plenty of work to keep me busy and involved within the fraternity. The first thing I did as a newly initiated member was run for pledge instructor. Unfortunately I didn’t get the position, but the experience taught me a valuable lesson. Life Isn’t always about winning, it’s about finding out who you are.
The next semester, I decided to find out a little bit more about myself and join men’s lacrosse. There was a time when I was so involved in lacrosse that my time with the Alpha Kappa Psi was very limited. Instead of choosing between the two organizations, I managed my time efficiently enough to be involved in both. Lacrosse requires me to be physically present, but a lot of what happens within the fraternity, happens behind the scenes. I thought the fraternity could benefit from one of my other skills, so I formed my own committee. I’ve always enjoyed writing so I offered to write a monthly newsletter. This is a job for at least three people, but I managed just fine by myself; and with much success! I love this fraternity and I’m very passionate about my role here. I was happy to step up for Alpha Kappa Psi before and now it’s my time to step up again.
It will be my pleasure to represent and promote Alpha Kappa Psi for the Xi Omicron Chapter.
Alpha Kappa Psi is the nation’s oldest and largest Co-Ed Business Fraternity. Each member exemplifies success weather it be in school or in our every day lives. AKΨ is always with us.
It’s another big year for Alpha Kappa Psi and all of us here at the Xi Omicron Chapter. Right now, Rush is in full swing as we prepare for another promising semester. The Xi Omicron Chapter at UTSA offers a unique experience and the opportunity to enhance your college and business career. With every new year comes new opportunity, and these are literally the opportunities of a lifetime!
Before Alpha Kappa Psi, I was a real nobody. I lacked direction and focus, but I didn’t want to be that person anymore. I knew something had to change. I wanted to get involved, but didn’t know how or where to start. By some miracle, I had a meeting with Mr. Julio Ramos from the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) and he told me the benefits of joining an organization such as Alpha Kappa Psi. I am forever indebted to that man because rushing for this fraternity has been one of the best choices I’ve ever made.
I rushed a year ago and can tell you all of the benefits first hand, but I’ll just keep it brief. For one: my grades increased which is great because who doesn’t like good grades? I’ve also managed to meet a number great people along the way and I owe it all to the fraternity. College is an unforgettable experience and it should be enjoyed with others. That’s exactly what AKΨ provided for me and I’m very grateful for that. The picture on the left was taken at one of our community service projects last year!
Alpha Kappa Psi has a lot to offer its members, but it’s up to us to help educate the public and pass on the legacy. It’s not exactly a walk in the park, but there’s nothing as rewarding as challenging yourself. If you believe in yourself then I believe that you have what it takes. RUSH!
